Since 2020. April.1st. Tokyo has regulated smoking, prohibiting it in all restaurants, except in designated smoking areas where the public can be admitted. Enforcing this regulation created some fuss, especially from the owners of a small pub. It has been a long time since I have heard that smoking seems like slow suicide, but my co-worker Yukiko Kishi has a different viewpoint for the culture of smoking. She shows me some Matchboxes. I was amazed by the beauty and the unique designs condensed onto the small canvas.
The Wife
Yes, this is a good movie. The wife’s -played by Glenn Close- annoyance got to a boiling point at the award ceremony. The customs where a wife has to be obedient, and cooperate with the husband’s success putting aside her own life, still exist in Japan.

One particular note, I love the scene in the snow. A police officer who had sharp observation skills was played a bit comically by the actress.

I prefer movies such as crime movies, somehow…. She seemed to dig her grave herself because of her extreme character. Obtaining self-confident is a common interest for all people who live in this stressful and competitive society, although we shouldn’t get it through crime.
